Totally don't want to post these...

because I was not happy with anything I got from the OSU v Purdue game, but per request, I thought I'd put them up there to get feedback. Just realized that football is not my cup of tea. I so can't wait until basketball season.

Plus, its been 10 days since my last update, so I thought I should.

Please don't be too harsh. I'm hating myself enough as it is with these, and also doubting my potential.

I don't think they are so bad... You just have a really weird cropping style. You make some edges too tight and others too loose.

I really don't think they are as bad as you are making them out to be.

I agree. They really aren't bad shots. It's probably just that you have higher standards for yourself now that you have shot football for a while. Which is a great thing! Plus, it's really tough to get something unique out of football, it's probably the most overshot sport in the world. Don't doubt your ability. You got a job as a photojournalist in the toughest market our profession has faced in years.

Hmm, about cropping, (just my opinion, because, believe me, I am no editing guru) I think that your frames would probably be a tad stronger if they retained the 35mm proportions. I have the tendency sometimes to want to crop pictures into squares, but I have found that the pictures seem more boring to me when I do that.

I think they look pretty good! This year was my first year with football and I underestimated how difficult it would be. I mean, these guys cover up the majority of their head, it's hard to get a good action shot that also shows there face...which is what they want here at this paper. Just keep practicing and you will get more confident. Erin Pence mentioned that your cropping is off...is that because that is the end of the frame? I had a photo that ran on Saturday that was very tight on the main player because of a coach that was in the way. So I had to crop really tight.

I thought all your shots were good too Annie with maybe the exception of the 1st one-it may have been a bit washed out. I liked the shot where you can see the dirt/debris coming up off the field. My favorite was the shot of the offensive player being tackled in mid-air-almost looked like a ballet shot. lol I'm sending you thru e-mail a pic that Chad Ryan shot, very similar to yours.
