Making art with my camera

Something that I do not get the chance to do very often. I enjoy doing it because it serves as a creative exercise for the mind and helps generate new ideas.

The sunset was pretty last night so I decided to take a picture of it while I was out at a girls soccer game and battling with the focal length getting stuck on infinity on the 70-200mm lens (which made shooting soccer quit challenging). This is definitely a picture I took for myself in the midst of frustration.

This picture was inspired by a picture that Ellie Bogue, photographer for the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel took. I like her photo much better because the colors are vibrant. But, its what I could find in the middle of summer in Tawawa Park. But walking around the park attempting to make art with my camera allowed me to find my feature for today. Its nothing special, so I didn't post it. Just another cute kid playing on a playground feature. Its all I could find for now, so its gonna work.

Tonight when I was driving back from the volleyball game, the full moon was rising in the EAST and was gorgeous! I wanted to pull off to the side of the road a couple of times when I found a nice foreground, but didn't have enough guts to stop on other people's drives, especially with my out-of-state license plates. Finally, I just pulled over into Lehman High School's parking lot. I pulled out the 300mm that I drug along with me to volleyball and mounted it on the tripod. Basically, I got some orangish looking circles against a black sky. I really needed a tripod in this situation to get my ideal picture. One day. One day I will get my full moon rising shot with a perfect foreground.

Okay, tomorrow is my last day at the Sidney Daily News. The day is going to be bittersweet, I can feel it. While I'm happy to be leaving all the drama and stuff I dislike, I am scared and anxious about leaving here without a job and having to move back home. Trying to keep an optimistic attitude and think that I will hear back from a newspaper soon. Plus, I still have a list of papers to send my stuff to (a short list, but still papers to contact). One good, but small thing, has already come: I got an application in the mail today from The Times-Picayune in New Orleans, LA. (I almost forgot I applied there, its been almost a month since I sent in my application. But its a nice reminder that the job process isn't instantaneous and things take time.) At least its a small glimmer of hope.
