Searching for the picture

Sun Spots

Empty place

Empty place totally sums up my day. After completing all the assignments that were scheduled for today, I was on the hunt--the hunt for a front-page feature. Basically, I find that its a hit or miss for me finding p1 features. At times, it is difficult to come up with ideas for features. Most of the time I spend driving around trying to look for interesting things that could be potentially good pictures. This tactic is 99 percent of the time not successful, and I end up driving around in circles wasting my gas and getting frustrated.

Today, I had a several ideas in mind that I wanted to get for a p1 feature. But of course, the main ingredient for all my ideas were missing: people! It was very frustrating when you have great ideas and can visualize these potential images in your head and you can't make it happen because the all the elements don't fall into place. I took these pictures at Deam Park when I was waiting around for kids to show up and play on the playground. I figured if I couldn't take the pictures I wanted to, I'd just play around with the elements that were there and take pictures for myself. It was a refreshing change to do this, and it made me realize that I miss taking pictures for my own enjoyment and not just for work. I would love to be able to have more time to take pictures just for fun and not because I have to. Maybe if I start doing these kind of fun exercises, it may help me stretch my "photographic mind" and maybe help me produce better images in my work.

New goal for myself: take 6-10 images a week for myself and snapping a few frames of whatever I think is a cool image even if its not for an assignment.

Norris out.
